Indiana Grand Racing & Casino’s free concert series continues Friday with a performance by Exile and Juice Newton. The monthly concert series, which started in January, will bring a total of five acts to the casino’s Center Bar stage through May. All concerts are open to the public ages 21 years or older.
Known for blending the music styles of rock and country music, Exile has charted hits in both genres. Originally starting as one of Dick Clark’s ‘Caravan of Stars’ in the early 1960s, Exile played backup for the likes of Freddy Cannon, Bryan Hyland and B.J. Thomas before branching out on their own. Exile’s discography includes a string of hits such as “Kiss You All Over,” “Woke Up In Love,” and “Give Me One More Chance.”
Joining Exile on stage will be Juice Newton, best known for her hits “It’s A Heartache,” “The Sweetest Thing I’ve Ever Known,” and “Queen of Hearts.” To date, Newton has won a Grammy and received five Grammy Award nominations in the Pop and Country Best Female Vocalist categories, as well as an Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Female Artist and two Billboard Female Album Artist of the Year awards.
Sha Na Na’s brand of rock & roll features a dynamic, crowd-pleasing show that highlights their four-decade journey from the stage at Woodstock and the movie “Grease” to the Sha Na Na television show and their constant worldwide concert schedule. Crowds are encouraged to participate in Sha Na Na’s interactive show where the audience sings and dances along to hits such as “Born to Hand Jive,” “Rock N’ Roll is Here to Stay,” and “At the Hop.”
As America’s baby boomers moved into their mid teens, Gary U.S. Bonds began his professional career with his first hit, “New Orleans” which was quickly followed-up with the now legendary ‘party’ record, “Quarter to Three,” a number one hit with a spirit and energy that would eventually inspire and influence a generation. Bonds went on to perform throughout the world as well as co-write and record multiple hits such as, “School is Out,” “School is In,” “Dear Lady Twist,” “Twist, Twist Senora,” and “Seven Day Weekend.”
