No Road Trip Required; Kentucky Derby Draws Big Locally
Indiana Racetrack Casinos and OTBs Expect Thousands on Nation’s Biggest Race Day
April 24, 2014 –Central Indiana’s racetrack casinos expect large crowds for the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3. Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson, and their signature off-track betting facility, the Winner’s Circle Pub, Grille & OTB in downtown Indianapolis, will welcome racing fans for a day of racing, entertainment, dining, and Kentucky Derby themed festivities.
The first Saturday in May is reserved as the biggest day in horse racing each season and this year is no exception, as millions of dollars will be wagered on what has become an annual national tradition. Indiana’s five simulcast race-wagering locations will be busy as they are the only locations in the state of Indiana to take wagers on the biggest race of the year. Indiana Grand Racing & Casino, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, Winner’s Circle Pub, Grille, & OTB as well as Off-Track Betting facilities in Merrillville and Fort Wayne will offer several options for racing fans to watch and wager on the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs.
Guests will enjoy a variety of traditional Kentucky Derby dining favorites at all properties through free general admission and various levels of VIP reserved seating options. Tickets, priced at $50 per person, are still available for Indiana Grand Racing & Casino’s VIP tent where ticketholders will receive free casino cash, a collectable Kentucky Derby glass, reserved seating, and unlimited food and beverage. Racing fans will also take part in derby hat events, free derby-themed giveaways, and multiple specialty dining outlets at both properties.
Additionally, both Indiana Grand and Hoosier Park will offer guests the opportunity to enter the $10,000 Kentucky Derby Mega Bet. An annual favorite, the $10,000 Mega Bet will give one lucky guest at each property a $10,000 win bet to be placed on the horse of their choosing in the Kentucky Derby.
Advanced wagering at all locations will be offered on the Kentucky Oaks starting Thursday, May 1 and Kentucky Derby starting Friday, May 2. Both the Friday Kentucky Oaks and Saturday Kentucky Derby race cards begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. EST. The signature Kentucky Derby race is set for a post time of 6:24 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, May 3.
